Radius Server on WIS Cloud
|
I want to use a RADIUS server for 802.1X authentication. The AP is running in cloud mode and managed through WIS Cloud. Does the RADIUS server need to be NAT, or can it use a local IP address? i'm using RG-AP9861-R |

Sir, this depends on your server's location relative to the access point (AP). 1. If your AP and server are on the same internal network, the authentication server IP you enter in the authentication policy is your server's internal IP address. 2. If your server is on the external network relative to the AP, then the server IP you enter in the authentication policy is the server's public IP address (if your server provides services through port forwarding or NAT from an upper-layer device, then you enter the mapped public IP address). |

The RADIUS server is using NPS software on Windows Server 2022. Usually, we need to add the controller’s IP address in NPS so that it can be recognized by the RADIUS server. Is there any other way to do this? ![]() |
