Maximum SSID's
|
Edited by Graeme at 2026-10-16 04:48 Hi Ruijie Support Team, I have multiple RG-RAP72Pro AP's on a multi-dwelling network, using RG-EG105G-P-V3 as the router and RG-NBS3100 as the switches. I know that there is a maximum of 8 SSID's allowed on each AP, but I am only using a maximum of 4 on each. I have come to add additional SSID's on to the project for additional clients and the cloud system says 'Up to 8 Wi-Fi networks are allowed.' How can I add the extra SSID's? Do I have to remove them from the Cloud system and manage them individually? Which defeats the point of having a cloud management system. Hopefully you can help me out. Thanks. |

I understand. To better grasp what is happening, could you please share a screenshot of your SSID configuration (please do not include the password)? The access point allows for the creation of 8 SSIDs (7 standard SSIDs plus the MESH SSID). We need to review your configuration. Additionally, could you let us know where you are seeing the message indicating that you cannot create any more SSIDs? |
GTAC-Sergio replied at 2026-10-16 05:22 Thanks for the reply. 2 screenshots uploaded. The first from the Ruijie Cloud: - project-> device config-> wireless-> wi-fi The second when I click add wi-fi top right of the same page, showing the alert message. ![]() ![]() Thanks, |
Graeme replied at 2026-10-16 06:28 You have already reached the maximum limit of 8 SSIDs. If you need certain access points (APs) to broadcast different SSIDs, you should create a device group. Within the Wi-Fi configuration, you can then remove or add SSIDs as needed. Once configured, move the desired APs into this device group by selecting them and assigning them to the group. After the settings have synchronized, the new SSIDs will be active on those APs. |
GTAC-Sergio replied at 2026-10-16 06:35 Yes, I understand that and as you can see from the screenshot I already have AP groups. What I need is additional SSIDs for new customers moving in to the development. There are going to be three additional clients moving in before the Christmas Holidays, each requiring their own SSID, transmitting from the AP's covering the areas they are in. Surely there shouldn't be a restriction in creating SSID's on the Ruijie Cloud platform, just the restriction pushing them out to the AP's? Thanks. |
Graeme replied at 2026-10-16 06:44 ![]() Please verify that your device group looks like this so that you can switch SSIDs between device groups; you have already reached the maximum number of SSIDs that can be created. ![]() In the Wi-Fi settings, you will be able to switch between device groups to configure the appropriate SSIDs required. In the list of devices, you must select the device you wish to move between groups, so that you can manage the SSID you want to implement for that specific group. ![]() |
GTAC-Sergio replied at 2026-10-16 07:04 Sorry, but I don't think you understand that I have already got AP Groups configured. Your Cloud Platform looks different to mine, I don't have the Groups option on the Wi-Fi page, it's contained in the SSID setting page. So what you are suggesting is, in a multi-dwelling site that, for example has 20 businesses sharing the same fibre connection and using a single router for their internet connection, all segregated in to separate VLANs; some of these businesses should share the same SSID as one of the other business? These are not massive corporations, they are generally single person market/craft stalls with low usage, but require a internet connection for taking Card payments. I'm sorry but that isn't a solution. Please answer this part of the question. Is the restriction of 8 SSID's per project on the Cloud Platform, irrespective of the models used? If not, which models can have more? Thank you. ![]() |
