VLAN trunk port IOS speed trouble
| We have a problem with the internet speed on our iOS devices and Ruijie network. We use Kerio Control as our firewall, which is connected to a NBS3200-24SFP/8GT4XS switch. With Kerio Control, VLAN 9 and VLAN 19 exit from one port and go into the trunk on the switch. APs (access points) 2260 and 1200 are also installed on the switch for Dlink 2.4GHz and 5GHz testing. The APs broadcast two SSIDs (service set identifiers) from VLAN 9 and 19 and are also installed on the trunk port on the switch with VLANs 9 and 19. On wired clients in VLAN 9, as well as WiFi Android and Windows devices, internet speed tests show 250 Mbps download and 200-220 Mbps upload. However, on iOS devices like iPhones and iPads, the download speed is 250 Mbps, but the upload speed is only 5-9 Mbps. We have tried different AP modes, frequencies, channels, and other AP vendors, as well as disabled MAC (media access control) substitution and rotation on iPhones, but there is still no improvement in upload speed or it is still asymmetrical.. We conducted tests on the demo setup: 1. An access point connected to the Ruijie and Kerio switch without any VLAN or trunk settings provided ideal speed for iOS devices. 2. The same 2260 access point, with VLAN configuration on the SSID, connected to the Kerio VLAN 9.19 trunk without a switch, also provided excellent speed. However, as soon as a trunk appeared on the switch where the Kerio firewall (uplink) was installed, the upload speed from iOS devices over Wi-Fi dropped significantly. We checked this on both a clean switch and a switch with IGMP settings, and we still saw the same results. Therefore, we are not sure if we are doing something wrong or if there is something else going on. We have checked different firmware versions, including the latest version, but the issue persists. We have above 16 switches ruijie and 56 rap2260. We also tried make settings with cloud and without cloud. Cheked time, regions etc Pls help us, we need it to solve. You can check if the flow control function is enabled. If the DLINK device is not enabled, it is recommended that the switch be turned off as well. If the AP has flow control enabled, it is suggested that flow control be enabled on the switch side as well. You can compare and test the speed![]() |

Alexander Atlantis replied at 2025-10-31 05:05 Good day, I just ran a test with the previously provided Rita link and it is working. Can you help us to try opening the link with another web browser? do you have any firewall restriction in your network possibly denying access to the webpage? Best regards. Jason. |
Trezan replied at 2025-10-30 10:26 I'm attaching screenshots of the switchboard and the dot to the bottom. as you can see, everything is already turned off on the working switchboard. although maybe some settings should be specified differently? at the dosutpa point, I found the flow control setting. tomorrow we will turn it off and try to measure the speed at 5ghz, since the asymmetric result is given only at 5ghz, especially when the download speed exceeds 100 mbit/sec. and only on iOS iphone ipad macbook devices. if I can provide more screenshots or settings information, let me know. screenshots of the working switch are attached, and we also run all the tests with different vlan and trunk settings in parallel so as not to ruin the working network. tomorrow we will disable flow control on the access point and try to measure it. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
