Seamless Re-authentication / Roaming Issue with Captive Portal – Internet Stops After Roaming Between APs

Hello Ruijie Community,
I am having an issue with [strong]Seamless Re-authentication when Captive Portal is enabled[/strong].
Users can connect to Wi-Fi, receive DHCP normally, and access the Internet while connected to one AP. However, when moving to another floor and roaming to another AP with the same SSID, Wi-Fi remains connected and DHCP is normal, but [strong]Internet access stops and the Captive Portal login page does not appear[/strong].
Users have to [strong]Forget Wi-Fi and reconnect again[/strong] to restore Internet access. This happens on all tested devices.
When I disable Captive Portal, roaming between all APs works normally without interruption.
[strong]Environment:[/strong]
  • AP: RG-AP810-L, RAP6262(G), RAP62
  • Gateway: MikroTik
  • Firmware: AP_RGOS 11.9(6)W5B9P2
  • Forward Mode: Bridge
  • VLAN: 110
  • Same SSID and same Ruijie Cloud Project/Network
  • L2/L3 Roaming enabled
Has anyone experienced this issue? Is there any additional configuration required for Seamless Re-authentication with Captive Portal?

Yes... I'm experiencing the same thing... after upgrading the firmware on all APs and switches, the seamless roaming functionality is having issues—especially for SSIDs using a cloud-based captive portal.

I would like to update that I have now resolved the issue, and the system is operating normally again.
I made two main changes:
  • Downgraded the AP firmware to [strong]AP_RGOS 11.9(6)W3B1, Release(11160202)[/strong].
  • Removed all existing [strong]Captive Portal settings and Guest Accounts[/strong], then reconfigured them from scratch.
After these changes, both [strong]roaming and re-authentication are now working normally[/strong]. Users can move between different access points, areas, and floors without experiencing the previous re-authentication issue.
At this stage, the system is stable and functioning as expected.

Thank you very much for your synchronization and testing, sir. You can upgrade the AP to the latest version AP_RGOS11.9 (6) W5B9P2_S1X2-11_13191316, and this issue has been resolved in the latest version so far.
